We start from Colombo and travel inland to the cultural hub of Kandy, towards the greenwashed mountains of Nuwara Eliya and finally to the Southern beaches to save the best for last.

Tour Plan

Day 01: Colombo

We commence our journey with a relaxed stay at our hotel in Colombo to refresh after the flight. This densely populated judicial capital too has a lot to offer from mouth watering street food, vibrant cafes and restaurants, well preserved colonial buildings, shopping malls and other recreational activities.

Touring the city by tuk-tuk is a wonderful experience while in Colombo. Pettah markets, Red Mosque, Gangarama temple, Lotus tower, Galle face and the Port City are among a lengthy list of places you can visit while in Colombo

Let us take you on a food tour to boost your taste buds with spices from East to West. From sea food platters to burger towers, from shawarmas to crepes, from rotis to pastas, from tea to chai; Colombo serves them all.

Day 02: Kandy

Kandy, the heritage packed city, housed the last throne in Sri Lanka of which the palace and the surroundings still stand proudly in the city center. Departing Colombo early to avoid the heavy traffic, we head towards Kandy with a packed breakfast.

Highlight – On our way to Kandy we visit the Elephant Freedom Project to enjoy a couple of hours with a gentle giant. It is a wonderful sight to see unchained elephants roaming freely, enjoying their best life. Surrounded by many elephant riding places, they make the difference by not promoting elephant rides which is why we love this small, family run project. Accompany an elephant on walks while learning about them, bathe and feed them while not missing out on the amazing photo opportunities.

Later in the evening would be a perfect time to visit the Temple of the Tooth Relic. This is of utmost cultural and religious importance to Sri Lankans and Buddhists living world wide.

Day 03: Kandy

Waking up to a beautiful morning in Kandy we travel towards Gampola to have a scenic tour to Ambuluwawa Tower. This is a photographer’s paradise which offers stunning insta-worthy pictures of the lavishly green landscapes. The narrow spiral staircase stands more than 3500 feet above sea level, giving you a complete 360 degrees view of the surrounding mountains and plains.

Spend a slow noon in the city at your own phase, enjoying lunch at a chic restaurant serving Authentic Sri Lankan food and incredible views.

In the evening, visit a unique Gem store to learn about the gem and jewelry making process. Your journey will begin at the gem mine. Complete with life-like models and ambient sound effects, the mine will help you understand the effort and extent of labor that is required, in the quest to find the gem stones.

Later in the evening enjoy a Cultural Dance show. This is performed by the Kandy Lake Club which was founded in 1982 with a view to bringing together all the dance types of Sri Lanka to a single platform

Day 04: Nuwara Eliya

Highlight – Today we travel from the cultural hub to the lavishly green hill country location of Nuwara Eliya. We catch the local train from Kandy to Nanu Oya to have an authentic Sri Lankan experience which is an exceptional highlight of the day.

Nuwara Eliya was a retreat for Colonialists where they could escape the heat of the tropical island, and to plant and take home the world’s finest tea.We visit a tea plantation today followed by a factory visit to have a first hand experience of the tea making process, summed up by testing a few samples.

We enjoy the evening at leisure before going for a stroll in Gregory park to spend the rest of the day. Hop into a motor boat for a relaxed ride around the lake or challenge yourself with a thrilling and adventurous Jet ski ride.

Day 05: Nuwara Eliya

After an early breakfast at the hotel we depart to Moonplains to catch the sun rise over the hills. The view deck serves a 360 degree view of the hills surrounding you which are tinted in gold with the first rays of the Sun. Be there on time to witness this magical moment.

Highlight – In the afternoon, visit Bomburu Ella waterfall which cascades down in an incomparably stunning setting. This offers insta-worthy picture opportunities and a splendid backdrop for wowsome snapshots with your loved ones.

On our way back to the hotel Visit Hakgala botanical gardens if time permits. The climate of the Gardens is subtropical, cool, fresh and somewhat similar to an alpine atmosphere. The temperature ranges from 3°C to 15° C. The flora of the gardens is distinctly sub tropical. It represents indigenous, montane flora intermingled with those introduced from other subtropical countries, systematically planted in various sections of the gardens. The best time to see the gardens is probably from about mid March to the end of April.

Day 06: Bentota

We have a 6 hour ride to Southern Beach today. Waking up early we will soon be on our way to Bentota via narrow winding roads descending from the mountains.

To make our journey less tiring, we stop in a couple of places to snack and stretch. Gulp down a glass of refreshing King Coconut water, have a photo break at breathtaking view points in Ginigathhena, and enjoy a light and simple lunch to be comfortable for the rest of the journey.

Kithulgala, the retreat for rafters, falls on your way to the South. If time permits you can enjoy water rafting or a short trek in the Makandawa Forest Reserve which would be another amazing experience. Hop onto a double canoe and cross the Kelani River to the side where natural beauty awaits to be rediscovered by you.

It will be late in the evening when you finally reach your beach resort today. Enjoy the rest of the day at leisure, relaxing while enjoying a wholesome meal with mouthwatering seafood.

Day 07: Bentota

Bentota is full of life, hues and laughs. This is one of the best places to enjoy your last night in Sri Lanka leisurely by the beach.

Highlight -Before the sun hits the surface, we enjoy the Madu river boat ride. Experiencing a fish foot therapy, visiting the cinnamon island for a refreshing cup of cinnamon tea, watching water birds and riding underneath a mangrove canopy shares the spotlight of this ride.
